North & Aspen — Independent Travel Consultation & Trip Design

Sample Work

See the thinking behind the trip.

The finished itinerary is only the visible part of travel planning.

Before it comes a series of decisions: what deserves the time, where convenience matters, which tradeoffs are worthwhile, what belongs together—and what doesn't belong in the trip at all.

A saving has to earn its place.

A trip built around a major event, followed by a relaxed city stay. The plan needed to protect the experience without committing too soon to dates that could still change.

Compare the price and the commitment.

Flexible rate compared

Price

Higher planning cost

Commitment

Pay at stay and keep cancellation flexibility within the rate’s deadline.

Nonrefundable rate considered

Price

Lower estimated cost

Commitment

Pay now; the payment could be lost if the trip changed.

The analysis used earlier rates to plan a future trip. The nonrefundable total was estimated from an advertised rate, not verified at checkout. The possible saving was weighed against losing flexibility; these are not current prices or hotel terms.

North & Aspen recommendation

Keep flexibility while the dates are unresolved.

Prefer the flexible rate while event access and dates remain uncertain. It keeps the three-night city base and nearby meals, with less money at risk if plans change.

Only consider the nonrefundable rate once access and dates are final—and the travelers accept losing that payment if they cancel.

The estimated saving was modest and did not justify giving up flexibility yet. The city location also came with street activity and parking costs; those compromises remained visible.

Design the trip around the decision

The recommendation changes what happens next.

  1. Before committing

Resolve event access and dates before making a nonrefundable commitment. Check the actual cancellation deadline and complete room offer.

  2. One city base

Keep the selected city stay and nearby meals, rather than add another hotel move.

  3. Room to arrive

Savannah begins with arrival and recovery, not a second touring day. The direct route preserves time for lunch and a proper hotel break. A nearby first dinner introduces the city without making your arrival depend on a tight reservation.

The transfer is part of the experience.

The detailed design carries the same priorities into the day: a direct transfer, time to stop, space to settle in and a nearby meal. The plan distinguishes proposed timing from what still needs confirming.

Selected analysis from one consistent practice case, adapted for clarity and anonymized. No claim of completed travel, confirmed reservations, current prices or supplier availability.

Your trip will ask different questions.

North & Aspen doesn't begin with a predetermined itinerary or a standard list of recommendations.

We begin by understanding what needs to be decided.
